LADY EVELYN'S NEWS

emembrance day was honored by the students, families and teachers in a variety of ways at Lady Evelyn. Some of the Junior students walked to Parliament Hill and participated in the ceremonies first hand. This experience included smelling the smoke of the 21 gun salute, feeling the power of the blast, being witness to the fly past from planes of ancient war days to modern day jets and paying tribute to the honored with voice and body. It was truly a moving experience.

Remembrance day was observed within the school walls as well. Poetry and quiet contemplation ensured the soldiers and the enormity of war wasnot forgotten. November also marks the distribution of report cards and parent teacher interviews. Congratulations to all for their work and efforts this year.

As the weather grows colder and the odd flake of snow finds its way our thoughts turn toward the holiday season and we once again look forward to Aunt Evelyn's corner. Co-operative activities and the opportunity to pick out a few gifts will be on the agenda this year as always. Monday December 20 has been set aside as the date for this festive activity. Parent volunteers of course are welcomed, and items for the gift tables would be much appreciated.
