BYTOWN NEWS

s it March already? The year so far has flown by at Bytown Nursery School and Daycare. January and February were filled with wintry things - sliding on the snow hill in the schoolyard, making winter crafts, having Valentine fun, welcoming Russell Levia and his music and generally having a great time. Nursery school teachers Cathy and Dorothy love winter, but admit they are counting the days until snowsuit season ends.

In daycare news, the Junior and Senior Kindergarten children are having a good year. Games, stories, crafts and learning are daily fare and the children have become good friends.

During February, the children were thrilled to find little "love notes" from their parents in their lunch boxes. Having the notes read aloud to the group gave them a special feeling in the middle of the day.

Parents also overcame themid-year lunch-making slump by offering some interesting twists on a healthy lunch: sandwiches cut into shapes with a large cookie cutter; hard-boiled eggs with a picture or message written on the shell; pita or crackers with bean dip, and selections of party snacks, such as cheese and crackers, pickles, olives, mini carrots and pretzels. Children, parents and teachers alike are all looking forward to March break - and spring!

Parents of children who will turn two and a half by Fall 2000 are invited to register their little ones now for the 2000-2001 Nursery School Program. Parent involvement in this co-operative nursery school makes it a great experience for children and parents alike and the fun and learning never end. Cathy and Dorothy offer a safe, loving environment that children can't resist. Register early to reserve a spot for your child by calling Cathy Brown, Director, at 730-4384.
