es we are your Senior Community Center still devoted to providing interesting programs for your pleasure and benefit. But we also provide other important services that I want to highlight.
For instance, do you know about our Day Away Program for clients with Alzheimer disease. We have staff and volunteers to provide a comfortable, fun-filled social day that give families some relief. We have installed new magnetic locks on all the 2nd floor doors to provide complete security for our Day Away clients.
And we constantly search for, and appeal for, more volunteers to assist with this task. If you have a little time to help we need you; the staff need your eyes and assistance to help manage the group afflicted with this problem. Helping someone can be rewarding so why don't you try it out, our number is 230-5730.
Seniors also find that keeping the house clean becomes more difficult as they age. You don't have to be infirm to find the vacuum cleaner too difficult to lift and so on. So we have people on staff just waiting to help. Well, no, they can't rush out to help, but they can arrange to meet with you in your home and assess the problem. They have some efficient cleaners on call and can perhaps find one to help you. Just call our number to makearrangements.
Then we have Mark Nesbitt of the Canadian Medic Alert Foundation to explain this essential service at 1pm Tuesday October 3. He will tell how it has saved lives and just possibly might save yours. Those bracelets or necklets provide life-long, up-to-date medical information for first responders to an emergency situation. Come on out and ask questions.
Would Abbeyfield Houses that provide family-style living for Seniors interest you? Privacy with independence, but companionship and assistance with domestic chores. You should learn what is available for yourself or someone you know. We have the answer on Tuesday September 26 at 1pm. Sheila Aldworth will be happy to answer your questions and explain the concept then, but please register before Sept. 19 to ensure a place in the audience.
Especially for men we have several activities, weight training for instance or the Snooker Club. Short on space here I urge you to pick up the Fall Program Guide which has all the dozens of activities we specialize in for Seniors 55 years or older.
Phone the magic number if you would like us to send one to you, but if you want to look us over you are welcome to check us out at 950 Bank Street, opposite Lansdowne Park.
