HOSPICE AT MAY COURT TO OPEN 10 OVERNIGHT CARE BEDS

BY MEGAN DOYLE, DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

n August 9, The Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) formerly known as Home Care voted unanimously to approve The Hospice at May Court's proposal to help fund the House on the River project as a pilot project. This means that The Hospice will receive funding from CCAC to hire shift nurses and health care aids to work in the residential program.

The Hospice is pleased to announce that through the generosity of an anonymous donor, the Hospice's share of money to run the first year of the program has been secured.

And the Hospice's development office is in the midst of raising the capital funds necessary to completerenovations to the existing Elizabeth Wing at the May Court site.

Renovations, under the watchful eye of our architect Ralph Wiesbrock, a local resident, of Katz, Webster Clancey & Associates, are scheduled to begin in October.

Once again we are asking for volunteers to help with jobs such as painting, cleaning etc... Mari-Beth will again be organizing work crews.  You are invited to call her at 260-2906 to get your name on the list of helpers.

Be sure to watch for news about the grand opening of the residential wing scheduled for January 2001.

For more information about The House on the River Project or The Hospice, please call 260-2906.
