ell, summer has come and gone and the membership drive is over for another year. Of course, you can still buy a membership anytime at the Firehall and we hope you will if no one came to your door.
We didn't reach our goal of 2000 members for the year 2000, but once again this year, our numbers did increase and this in itself is gratifying. We only count people over 18 but if we were counting those under 18, we'd be way over 2000.
Old Ottawa South is divided into seven areas and we welcomed four new Area Reps to the team this year. Robert Burr, Area 3 - west of Bank, from Cameron to the river; Megan Doyle, Area 4 - Ossington to Hopewell; Michael Lynch, Area 5 - Seneca to Bronson Place north of Sunnyside and Deborah Chandler, Area 7 - Sunnyside to Main Street, east of Riverdale.
Other Area Reps are Doug Stickley, Area 2 - Bank to Sunnyside west of Riverdale, east of Bank; Kathy Gilles, Area 6 - Bank to Roslyn, west of Bank, north of Sunnyside and me in Area 1 - Bank to Sunnyside, east of Riverdale.
Thanks to the block reps who do their block, offering memberships, listening to comments and complaints and bringing these back to the OSCA Board.
It's one of the things that keeps us in touch with you and enables you to support the work we do - programs at the Firehall, advocacy at City Hall and Regional Government, The OSCAR, our community newspaper and our watchful eye on development, both residential and commercial.
These things build community and make Old Ottawa South such a good place to live. It doesn't just happen - your neighbors are volunteering and working for YOU, so thanks for supporting us.
We have more block reps than ever this year and it's wonderful tosee the network growing. Thanks to especially those busy brand new moms.

The actual drive is over for this year but memberships will be sold at Registration and through the year. If you'd like to get involved with your community, meet your neighbors and help out with even just a block or one side of a block, please phone me 730 2627 or call the Firehall. We'd love to have you working with us.
I hope I haven't missed anyone. I've included some names who have not yet turned in their memberships. If you are too busy next year, please tell your Area Rep. It happens to the best of us, in spite of good intentions, and we'll need to find someone else.
